This Returns & Refunds Policy explains how returns, replacements, and refunds work for purchases made through valerievale.com (“Site”). By placing an order, you agree to this policy and our Terms & Conditions.

A Note on Fairness
Our goal is simple:
If your book arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, we will resolve it quickly and fairly.
If a return is requested due to change of mind, we follow the applicable consumer rules while protecting the integrity of our work and physical products.
Damaged, Defective, Incorrect, or Missing Items
If your order arrives damaged, defective, incorrect, or incomplete, please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery, with your order number and clear photos. This helps us investigate the issue quickly. This does not affect your mandatory legal rights.
What to send us

Your order number
A brief description of the issue
Clear photos of:
the damage/defect (close-up),
the full front & back cover,
the packaging (especially if visibly damaged),
the shipping label (if relevant)
What we will do
After review, we may offer one of the following remedies:
Replacement copy (recommended in most cases)
Partial refund (if the damage is minor and you prefer keeping the book)
Full refund (if replacement is not possible or appropriate)
Reports made later may take longer to investigate, especially if shipping damage is involved, but your mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
Missing Items
If part of your order is missing, please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery, with your order number and photos of what you received. We will investigate and resolve it. This does not affect your mandatory legal rights.
Returns for Change of Mind (Outside EU/EEA/UK)
For customers outside the EU/EEA/UK, we do not accept returns or refunds for change of mind.
We only accept claims for:
damaged items,
defective items,
wrong item shipped,
missing items
— reported as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery.
This does not limit any mandatory rights you may have under your local law.
EU/EEA/UK Consumers — Right of Withdrawal (14 Days)
If you are a Consumer in the EU/EEA/UK, you may have a legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving the Product—without giving a reason.
How to request withdrawal
Email Support@valerievale.com within 14 days of delivery and include:
Order number
A clear statement that you are withdrawing from the purchase
Return shipping cost
Unless the law requires otherwise, you are responsible for the cost of return shipping for withdrawal returns.
Condition of Returned Books
You may inspect the book as you would in a physical bookstore. The book should be returned in the best possible condition, with no handling beyond what is necessary to inspect it.
No writing, highlighting, annotations, or markings
No stains, water damage, or strong odors
No torn pages, bent corners, or warped covers
No creased cover or visibly damaged spine
No handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the book as you would in a physical store
Diminished value (anti-abuse rule)
You may inspect the book as you would in a bookstore. If the book shows signs of use beyond inspection, you may be responsible for diminished value. In such cases we may:
issue a partial refund reflecting the loss of resale value, and/or
reduce the refund to reflect any diminished value, where permitted by law
This rule exists to prevent abuse (e.g., purchasing, reading, and returning).
Refund timing (withdrawal)
If you exercise your right of withdrawal, we will refund you within 14 days from the day we are informed of your decision to withdraw.
We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned book or until you provide proof that you have sent it back, whichever happens first.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
What is refunded (withdrawal)
Where legally required, we refund:
the price paid for the book, and
the standard outbound shipping cost (if you paid one)
If you selected a premium shipping option, the upgrade portion may not be refundable where permitted.
Limited Edition, Personalized, or Special Copies
If we offer copies that are clearly personalized, dedicated to you by name, or made to your specific instructions, these may be excluded from the right of withdrawal for change of mind, where permitted by law.
A standard Limited Edition or numbered copy is not automatically excluded unless it is personalized or made to your specifications. Details will be stated clearly on the product page before purchase.
How to Return a Book (If Eligible)
If your return is eligible, we will provide instructions by email. You must:
pack the book securely to prevent damage in transit,
include your order reference,
ship using a trackable service if possible (recommended).
We are not responsible for items lost during return shipping if you choose an untracked method.
Refund Method and Processing
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout.
Processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
Exchanges
We generally do not offer exchanges for change of mind.
For damaged/defective/wrong items, we usually resolve the issue via replacement (fastest and fairest solution).

- Outside EU/EEA/UK: we do not accept change-of-mind returns unless mandatory local law requires otherwise.

- Return shipping for withdrawal returns is paid by the customer unless the law requires otherwise or the item is damaged, defective, incorrect, or incomplete.
If a returned book shows handling beyond what is necessary to inspect it, the refund may be reduced to reflect diminished value, where permitted by law.
